Why the pairing works
Şirince sits in İzmir’s Selçuk district, the same wider area used to explore Ephesus. GoTürkiye’s village itinerary highlights its historic houses, cobbled streets and church heritage. That smaller scale makes a useful counterpoint to the archaeological site.
For planning, the main benefit is variety: one part of the day follows a major ancient city, while the other lets you notice details at street level. You can make that contrast without trying to visit every landmark in the Selçuk area on the same outing.
Give Ephesus enough time first
Agree what your Ephesus visit includes before adding Şirince. The main site, optional sections, additional heritage stops and lunch all compete for time. Ask the guide to explain the walking involved and which parts matter most to your interests.
Afterwards, check the group’s energy. If everyone is tired, a comfortable lunch and a shorter afternoon can be the better choice. If you have an overnight stay, put Şirince on the following morning instead of rushing through it at the end of an already demanding day.
Keep the village visit simple
Our suggested approach is a meal, a short walk and one heritage stop that is open during your visit. Look up as well as into the shops: the arrangement of houses and streets is part of what makes the village distinctive. Ask permission before photographing people or private doorways.
GoTürkiye mentions local food, St. John the Baptist Church and the former stone school in its route. Treat those as ideas to check, not a fixed promise of access. If a tasting interests your group, ask about its contents and cost before participating; it does not need to be part of everyone’s visit.
Plan for the streets and the return
Cobbles and slopes deserve attention when planning for children, older travellers or anyone with limited mobility. Ask how close the vehicle can stop, how much uphill walking is expected and where seated breaks are possible. A shorter route with a good lunch can be more enjoyable than a long loop.
For an independent visit, confirm your return transport before setting off. For a private tour, agree the pickup point and a flexible but clear departure window. Leave a separate allowance for luggage collection and airport or port procedures.
Fit it into a wider western Türkiye trip
