Where should you stay?
Sultanahmet puts major Old City sights on your doorstep. Karaköy or Galata can work well for ferries, dining and an evening walk; always compare your exact hotel location with the places you most want to see.
How many days make sense?
With three days, protect one full Old City day and use another for the water and neighbourhoods. Four or five days let you spread sights out and add a quieter district or optional day trip. Arrival and departure times can change what fits.
What should you plan together?
For Cappadocia, allow time to reach the correct Istanbul airport. A later flight after a Bosphorus morning can work if the schedule and transfers permit; do not treat that day as lost to transport.
