Can you visit all three in one day?

Yes, but expect a full day. Perge lies roughly 18 kilometres east of central Antalya, Aspendos about 45 kilometres east and Side around 80 kilometres east. Hotel location, traffic, collection stops and the exact route can make the practical journey longer than those figures suggest.

Three sites suit travellers who want an overview and are comfortable with walking. If you prefer detailed archaeology, photography or a slow lunch, choose two. Perge and Aspendos make a focused ancient-city and theatre pairing; Aspendos and Side combine a major monument with a coastal old town.

Stop 1 · Give Perge the freshest part of the day

Perge deserves more than a view from the entrance. Its colonnaded streets, agora, baths, fountains and monumental gates reveal the scale of a Roman city. Starting here helps you tackle the broad, exposed site before the hottest part of the day.

Ask your guide to establish the city plan before moving into details. Wear stable shoes and carry water: the surfaces are uneven and shade is limited. If your group has mobility concerns, request a realistic description of the route from the parking area and identify the priority section in advance.

Stop 2 · Focus the Aspendos visit

Aspendos is best known for its Roman theatre, one of the region’s most impressive surviving monuments. The wider ancient landscape also includes remains such as the aqueducts, so clarify whether your programme covers only the theatre or allows time beyond it.

Stop 3 · Side rewards an unhurried finish

Side occupies a peninsula with an ancient city woven into a modern coastal setting. Its archaeological area, museum, streets and waterfront make it different from both Perge and Aspendos. Decide whether your priority is the ancient remains, the Temple of Apollo area, the museum or time by the sea.

Finishing here can create a pleasant late-afternoon rhythm, but sunset is not a guaranteed timetable. Seasonal daylight, opening arrangements and the return journey matter. Keep dinner plans flexible until your driver or guide has confirmed the likely Antalya return.

The most practical order from Antalya

For many departures, Perge–Aspendos–Side follows the geography naturally and places the most extensive walking first. The reverse can work when hotel location, summer heat, museum hours or a special event changes the logic. Treat the order as a planning tool, not a rule.

Ask for the collection time, expected return window, vehicle type and time allocated at each place. If a waterfall, shopping visit or lunch venue is added, find out what it replaces. A list with four or five named stops may provide less archaeology than a carefully paced three-stop day.

Private tour, shared tour or self-drive?

A private tour makes it easier to adjust walking time and decide whether Side or Perge deserves longer. A shared tour can reduce cost, but pickup rounds, fixed meal stops and mixed priorities may shape the day. Compare the actual schedule, not only the headline price.

Self-driving gives independence, but the driver must manage parking, navigation and a long day without a guide’s interpretation. Confirm current rental conditions, parking and site information. Whichever option you choose, check whether admissions, guiding, lunch, drinks and hotel transfers are included in writing.
