Choose your base before your excursions
Start with your evenings. Do you want to walk to dinner in a historic district, or spend most of your free time at a resort? A hotel that looks ideal in isolation can feel inconvenient if every outing requires another transfer.
Kaleiçi is a natural choice for old-town atmosphere. Konyaaltı suits a stay with beach time and city access; the broader Lara area offers a different range of city and resort settings. Check the exact location and transport arrangements rather than relying on the area name alone.
Day 1 · A gentle introduction to Kaleiçi
Keep arrival day local. Walk into the old town around Hadrian’s Gate, explore a few of its streets, and make your way towards the harbour if time allows. The official destination guide highlights the historic centre alongside Antalya’s much wider archaeological landscape.
Do not make the first evening dependent on an excursion ending at an exact minute. A simple restaurant plan and a short walk are easier to adjust after a delayed flight. If you arrive late, move this introduction to your next free morning.
Day 2 · One strong cultural day
Perge and Aspendos are two of the region’s major ancient sites. Perge offers the remains of a substantial ancient city; Aspendos is particularly known for its Roman theatre. Choose whether you want to combine them with transport and guiding or give one site more attention.
Before booking, ask for the hotel collection time, estimated return window, admission inclusions and amount of walking. Do not add another distant stop simply because it appears on a popular list. A useful guided visit needs time for questions, breaks and looking beyond the main photo.
Day 3 · Leave the day open to the Mediterranean
Make this the low-pressure part of the trip. You might choose beach time, a waterfront meal or a locally operated boat outing, depending on the season and conditions. If you would rather stay on land, revisit the old town at a different pace.
For a boat activity, confirm the actual harbour, duration, inclusions and return arrangements. “Antalya” can refer to a wide holiday region, so the transfer to the activity may matter as much as the activity itself. Keep any weather-dependent booking flexible where the supplier’s terms allow.
Day 4 · Finish near your departure route
Use your remaining time for breakfast, a short walk or a final local stop. Confirm checkout, luggage storage and airport collection before making plans. If the flight is late, ask about a day-use room or late checkout instead of assuming either is included.
For a three-day version, retain the old town and one cultural excursion, and use the rest for the coast. Cutting one activity is usually better than removing every break. For a longer holiday, add an extra night before expanding the driving route.
