At a glance: six calendar days, five nights

Days 1–3 begin in Istanbul; Days 3–6 continue in Cappadocia. The regional change happens after a half-day Istanbul visit, subject to a suitable flight. This pattern leaves one full Istanbul touring day and two Cappadocia days. It does not assume your international arrival or final departure gives you a full sightseeing day.

If a morning arrival or late international departure creates extra time, use it as breathing room rather than adding a distant city. If the flight schedule or hotel arrival would make Day 3 impractical, add a night or reverse the route.

Day 1 · Arrive in Istanbul

Meet your transfer at the confirmed airport and check in to your Istanbul hotel. Choose the evening according to your actual arrival time and energy. An easy local dinner is more useful than a prepaid tour that could be missed after a delayed flight.

Day 2 · Old City at a comfortable pace

Start around Sultanahmet and make the historic core your focus. A guide can connect the story of the Hippodrome, Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia; decide in advance whether a substantial palace or museum visit belongs in the same day. Allow a lunch break and ask about current access at working religious sites.

Day 3 · Bosphorus morning, proposed flight after 17:00

Take a short Bosphorus cruise or ferry outing in the morning. Return to the hotel or arranged luggage point, then transfer to the correct Istanbul airport. Leave at least two hours at the domestic terminal, plus the time needed for road traffic, baggage and hotel-to-airport travel. Do not schedule a full-day tour before the flight.

Compare flight options into Nevşehir Cappadocia (NAV) and Kayseri (ASR), and calculate the onward transfer to your actual hotel. The listed departure and arrival airports, luggage allowance and flight time must be confirmed for your date; an after-17:00 direct service is a planning preference, not a promise. If the confirmed service is too late for a sensible hotel arrival, adjust the day rather than forcing the route.

Day 4 · Cappadocia Red-style highlights

Use your first full day for a coherent route through Göreme-area heritage, viewpoints, rock formations and Avanos pottery traditions. Choose which sites matter most instead of treating every valley stop as mandatory. Ask whether museum admission, lunch and a licensed guide are included in the proposal.

Day 5 · Underground city or slower valleys

If walking conditions suit your party, choose a southern Cappadocia route with an underground city and a valley visit. Another option is a gentler day with a cave church, village and fewer transfers. Underground cities include stairs and enclosed passages; share mobility or comfort concerns before booking.

If a balloon flight is important, request the first suitable morning in Cappadocia, weather and availability permitting, then retain a flexible alternative. Day 6 · Departure and connection check

Travel from your Cappadocia hotel to the confirmed airport with enough check-in time. If your international flight departs from Istanbul, check whether the domestic connection uses the same airport and whether separate tickets require baggage collection and recheck. A tight connection can undo an otherwise good plan; an extra Istanbul night may be the better option.

Overnight: none in this five-night example. Add a night if the onward schedule, weather margin or your preferred pace requires it.

Before asking for a quotation

  • Send the arrival and departure flight details, including airport codes.
  • Say whether the Day 3 evening flight is essential or whether you can add a night.
  • Share hotel standard, number of travellers, mobility needs and preferred touring style.
  • Ask for itemized flights, transfers, guide services, entrance fees, meals and balloon options.
  • Check all times, schedules, weather-dependent activities and prices in the written proposal.
